NCRPO releases digital enhanced copy of the gunman in the killing of Percy Lapid
PERCY LAPID CASE – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has released a digital enhanced copy of the gunman who killed the veteran journalist.
Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid, was shot dead on Monday evening, October 3, in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.
Lapid was a columnist for Hataw and the host of the online broadcast program “Percy Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242.
He was known for his furious commentaries on different happenings in the country, especially in politics.
According to the victim’s relative, Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast when he was shot several times at the gate of BF Resort Village at around 8:30 p.m.
Las Piñas City Police cited in an incident report that the victim was in his vehicle when a suspect on board a Toyota Fortuner suddenly bumped into the rear portion of his car, a Toyota Innova.
The police said that the other suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, shot the victim and fled in an unknown direction. The crime scene yielded two empty shells of unknown caliber.

Benhur Abalos, the secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) called on the suspect to surrender to the police for his own safety.
The PNP has also provided security to Percy Lapid’s family.
Several public officials and personalities including Senators Robin Padilla and Risa Hontiveros, as well as lawyers Chel Diokno, Neri Colmenares, and Luke Espiritu condemned the killing of the broadcaster.
