On October 15, Soriano shared on Twitter his experience after being visited by plainclothes cops who allegedly wanted to know if he had received any threats to his life after what happened to Percy Lapid.

When he told the policemen that there were no threats toward him, he was asked for a photo for documentation- which he politely declined.

According to JP Soriano, he is not the only journalist who has been visited by the authorities.

The journalist questioned how the PNP got his address.

“Isa po itong malinaw na paglabag sa Privacy Act, at kung nais talagang makipag coordinate ng @pnppio to check on us, dapat ito ay ginagawa sa aming opisina, HINDI sa aming tahanan,” he noted.

Meanwhile, BGen Jonnel Estomo, chief of the NCRPO, issued a statement in which he apologized for Soriano’s ordeal. He also promised to look into the matter.

However, Soriano stated unequivocally that he does not want the police officer who visited him punished because they may have only been following orders from their superior.

It can be recalled that it was October 3 when Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid, was shot dead in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.

Lapid was a columnist for Hataw and the host of the online broadcast program “Percy Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242.

He was known for his furious commentaries on different happenings in the country, especially in politics.

Lapid was on his way to work for his online broadcast program “Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242 when he was shot several times at the gate of BF Resort Village at around 8:30 p.m.
