Tan, a pro-BBM blogger is currently being criticized on social media due to her old post against former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

Last October 16, Kakampinks, or supporters of former Vice President Leni Robredo came across a 2013 post of Tan wherein she questioned why Filipinos are still rooting for the Marcoses.

“Same old faces, same old farces. Have we reached a consensus accepting incompetence, corruption, and nepotism as part of our tradition? Electing the same names into office seems to be the norm in the Philippines,” she said in the post.

“Do we let the sons and daughters of a dictator and old-timer politicians lead us because “change” is such a radical and incomprehensible concept to think of?” she added.

On the same day, Tan denied that she has been paid to support the Marcoses.

According to her, she voluntarily shifted to the Marcoses after doing “research” about the family.

Here’s the statement of Thea Tan:

Meanwhile, the Marcos family is a political family and is considered one of the most influential clans in the Philippines.

The beginning of their political career can be traced to the 1925 election of Mariano Marcos, the father of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. At the time, he was elected as a congressman for the second district of Ilocos Norte.

It was then followed by the 21-year rule of Ferdinand Marcos which highlights his 14-year dictatorship during Martial Law.

Even up to this day, the political career of the Marcoses continues with Imee Marcos serving as a senator and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
