The senator is currently making rounds online after she admitted that she once worked with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).

“I have worked with the NDF and I’m not ashamed of it. I agreed with them on many subject matters that are close to our hearts,” she said.

According to her, there’s no law proving that the leftists are “enemies of the state.”

Her controversial statement earned the reaction of renowned personalities including religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Among those who reacted as well is no longer retired Philippine Air Force general Romeo Poquiz.

On Facebook, Poquiz criticized Legarda following her stand on CPP-NPA-NDF.

Here’s the message of the retired Air Force general to the senator:

According to him, regular soldiers will be immediately punished and removed from their positions if they favor the enemies of the state. That is why the retired general reminded the reservists like Legarda that they should also respect the uniform given to them.

He claimed that Legarda’s words can also be considered ‘treason’ or betrayal of the government.

Poquiz, on the other hand, expects Legarda to use her parliamentary immunity to protect her following her statements in favor of the state’s enemy, but she will not escape her responsibility as a reservist.

Legarda has yet to comment on the criticisms she has been receiving.
