Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Vice Mayor Joseph Tejada passes away

JOSEPH TEJADA – The vice mayor of Narvacan town in Ilocos Sur passed away earlier at the age of 32.

His passing was announced by the provincial government of Ilocos Sur through its official Facebook page.

Apparently, his cause of death was not disclosed.

“Today, our province lost one of the most dedicated and sincere public servants,” the provincial government said.

Luis Chavit Singson, the former Ilocos Sur governor and the ex-Narvacan mayor has paid a tribute to Joseph Tejada, whom he described as a patient and hardworking public servant.

Aside from being a public official, Tejada was an engineer and a councilor.

Meanwhile, according to Atty. Glendale L. Benzon, the legal representative of Tejada, the vice mayor of Narvacan was figured in an accident at Brgy. Langlangca 2nd, Candon City Ilocos Sur on board a motorcycle.

Tejada was riding a 900 cc motorcycle coming from North heading South when he accidentally bumped a crossing pedestrian, a 75-year-old resident of Langlangca, Candon City.

The pedestrian who was brought to Candon General Hospital was pronounced Dead on Arrival (DOA).

Vice Mayor Joseph Tejada immediately surrendered to Candon City Police Station, where he was reportedly in shock and visibly distressed about the pedestrian’s condition.

As a result of his overwhelming emotions, he had difficulty breathing and collapsed at the police station.

PNP members rushed Tejada to St. Martin de Porres Hospital for medical attention. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he died of Cardiac Arrest secondary to Cardiac Arrythmia.
