A mime artist is someone who performs or uses mime as a theatrical medium. Miming is the act of acting out a story through body movements rather than speech.

Miming is distinct from silent comedy, in which the artist plays a character in a silent film or skit.

Jhonwel Reyes, also known as the Green Soldier, is a popular street mime performer in the country.

He first began performing as a mime in 2014. He dresses up in various costumes to entertain the audience, and one of his most memorable acts is the Green Soldier.

Before becoming a street performer, he had different jobs such as pedicab driver, construction worker, service crew member, janitor, and factory worker in the past.

After making a name for himself on the video-sharing platform TikTok with his amusing performances, he relocated to Baguio.

His income is now sufficient to meet his family’s needs. He also gets to perform at birthday parties and other events.

Despite bringing joy to people, the Green Soldier has many detractors.

In fact, there was even a time when a basher told him that he was becoming “mukhang pera”.

Meanwhile, Green Soldier announced the cancelation of selling his “art toy.”

Here’s his FB post:

In the comment section, he was furious with those accusing him of overpricing.

As expected, his statement generated mixed reactions from netizens.
