A mime artist is a person who uses mime as a theatrical medium or as performance art. Miming involves acting out a story through body motions, without the use of speech.

Miming is distinguished from silent comedy, in which the artist is a character in a film or skit without sound.

One of the most popular street mime performers in the country is Jhonwel Reyes also known as the Green Soldier or Green Man.

It was in 2014 when he started to perform as a mime. He wears different costumes to entertain the audience and one of his remarkable acts is the Green Solider.

Before becoming a street performer, he had different jobs. The Green Soldier used to work as a pedicab driver, construction worker, service crew, janitor, and factory worker.

When he moved to Baguio, his life changed after making a buzz on the video-sharing platform, TikTok with his funny performances.

Now, his income is enough to support the needs of his family. He gets to perform at birthday parties and other events as well.

Despite bringing happiness to people, the Green Soldier still has a lot of bashers.

In fact, one of his bashers earlier told him that he’s becoming “mukhang pera”.

But according to him, he has a right to have his own talent fee because he’s doing his part as a performer.

He added that whatever he has achieved at the moment came from a lot of hardwork and sacrifices.

“Ganito naba talaga sistema ng ibang Pinoy? Pag may nararating ung tao hahanapan ng butas Kailangang Hilahin pababa?,” he asked.
