The Duterte led faction has elected Palawan 2nd District representative Jose Alvarez as the party’s new president, while Senator Robinhood Padilla is the party’s new Executive Vice President.

In his speech after the election of a new set of officers during its national assembly last September 29, Duterte expressed hopes that President Bongbong Marcos would lead the Philippines by prioritizing the interest of the Filipino people.

Duterte, who was given a fresh term as the chairman of the PDP-Laban faction, also likened his fate to President Bongbong Marcos for being elected by the majority, giving them a strong duty to serve the country.

I would like to make this thing very very clear. We are not putting up a strong party against the party of the President,” the former President said. “We are not going to quarrel with him. Far from it. We will be giving our full support to him.

The former President went on to say to his party mates that he will vouch for them in the next elections as he urged them to “organize”.

Former President Duterte’s daughter, then Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, was the running mate of Bongbong Marcos during the 2022 elections.

The Bongbong Marcos – Sara Duterte ticket overwhelmingly won the May 2022 Presidential and Vice-Presidential races with more than 31 million and 32 million votes, respectively.
