GOLDEN GLOBE ROYAL AWARDS – Darryl Yap won as the best director while Atty. Vince Tañada was hailed the best actor in the prestigious award-giving body.

Yap and Tañada are among the biggest rivals in the entertainment industry today.

Yap is the director of the Maid in Malacañang.

It is a movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace.

It stars Cesar Montano as former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Diego Loyzaga as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Cristine Reyes as Senator Imee Marcos, and Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Romualdez Marcos and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos.

While those who portrayed the role as house helpers of the Marcos family are Elizabeth Oropesa as Yaya Lucy, Beverly Salviejo as Yaya Biday, and Karla Estrada as Yaya Santa.

On the other hand, Tañada is the director of Katips.

It is about a group of student activists from the Katipunan area of Quezon City who struggled to protest the imposition of nationwide martial law in the 1970s.

The film stars Jerome Ponce, Vince Tañada, Mon Confiado, Sazchna Laparan, Nicole Laurel Asensio and to name a few.

It was just recently when Golden Globe Royal Achievement Awards announced the winners of the award-giving body.

Both films won big in the Golden Globe Royal Achievement Awards.

Maid in Malacañang received five awards which include the following: Cesar Montano as Best Actor, Darryl Yap as Best Director, Darryl Yap as Blockbuster Director of the Year, Beverly Salviejo as Best Supporting Actress and Diego Loyzaga as Best Supporting Actor.

While Katips earned two awards including; Vince Tañada as Best Actor and Johnrey Rivas as Best Supporting Actor.

After receiving an award, Tañada aired a statement saying: “Another recognition. Maraming salamat po.”

The awards night will take place this coming December 14, 2022.
