BONGBONG MARCOS RINGS BELL – The Philippine President rang the ceremonial closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Forum.

Philippine Pres. Bongbong Marcos flew to the United States for his state visit. He also attended the New York State Exchange (NYSE) Forum where he spoke about the investment opportunities in the Philippines especially in IT-BPM, telecommunications infrastructure and services, medical products and devices, and agribusiness. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Philippine President rang the ceremonial closing bell at the NYSE forum. He was accompanied by his wife, first lady Louise Marcos.

One of the high-profile politicians in the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos who has served several positions in his home province, Ilocos; as senator, and, now, as president of the Republic of the Philippines.

Personal Background:

Born on September 13, 1957 in Santa Mesa, Manila, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. is the second child of then Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand Marcos Sr. who, later on, became president of the Philippines and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. He spent his childhood years in Malacañang Palace as their official home.

Marcos Jr. studied at Institucion Teresiana and La Salle Green Hills in Manila for his kindergarten and elementary education, respectively. He also spent some of his school years at Worth School in England. His other educational profiles have always sparked issues and different claims regarding their alleged veracity.

Family:

Pres. Bongbong Marcos is married to Atty. Louise “Lisa” Araneta-Marcos whom he wed in 1993. Their marriage is blessed with three (3) sons – Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro”, Joseph Simon, and William Vincent “Vinny”.

Political Career:

In 1991, Marcos Jr. became the representative of the second district of Ilocos Norte. He did his first Senate ran in 1995 but lost after placing 16th. In 1998, he won his second term as Ilocos Norte governor. He has finished three (3) terms in his home province. In 2010, he ran for the second time in the Senate and, that time, won. He ran for vice president in 2016 but lost to former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.
