The tourism department headed by Frasco earlier announced that they will be launching a program called “Bisita Be My (BBM) Guest Program” wherein they will give incentives to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who will invite relatives, friends, and other tourists to the Philippines.

The program also comes with raffle prizes, discounts, and privileges for OFWs who will be bringing their guests into the country.

The goal of the said program is good. However, there were netizens urging the tourism secretary to change its name.

Among those who reacted is Mark Lopez, a radio host and avid supporter of the current administration.

According to him, naming the program after the president is “too much.”

“Mawalang galang na Madam Sec, pero bukod po sa napaka plain speaking and redundant (Bisita na, Guest pa), yung pagpilit na gawin BBM ang acronym ng nasabing toursim campaign eh so contrived and masyado pong pilit,” he said.

He added that tourism should be about the country and not the president regardless of who is sitting since it might have international exposure.

Lopez claimed that even PBBM will disagree with it because, for him, it smacks of “EPALISM.”

His post made rounds on social media garnering reactions from the netizens.

Meanwhile, in the note posted by the tourism secretary on her Facebook page, she stressed that the said program is still under “review”.

“I value your voice because after all, we are all stakeholders in the success of tourism and of our country,” she noted.
