Virgin Island, a 20-minute boat ride away from Panglao, made a buzz earlier after a netizen shared that her friend was charged over 26,000 pesos in a seafood “paluto”.

In an exclusive interview with News5, the vendor who charged 26k to the tourists said that the price for the seafood that the tourist consumed was accurate.

According to him, the viral photo featuring the foods that tourists ate was not complete, meaning it was different from the actual foods they ordered.

The vendor identified as Fidel showed the seafood they ate and explained how come they cost that much.

He said the group ordered 36 pieces of scallops which cost more than two thousand pesos and 36 pieces of oysters which costs over 2k as well.

He also defended the banana cue he sold for P900. Fidel said that the group ordered 27 sticks of the banana cue, three sticks cost 100 pesos.

But one of the tourists who were part of the group refuted the claims of the vendor.

“Hindi lang siya overpricing sir ha. Dinagdagan nila ‘yung quantity. By the time na nag-order kami, hindi nila nilista agad. So doon lang sila naglista nung paalis na kami sa island,” the tourist said.

News5 also compared the price of squid in Panglao market and Virgin Island.

Baby squids are sold for 200 per kilo in the said market while on Virgin Island, they are sold for 100 per stick.

Another vendor on Virgin Island admitted that the price of the seafood depends on their customer.

“May Tagalog na presyo, may Bisaya na presyo, Chinese na presyo at may Korean na price po,” said the female vendor.
