Pares, commonly known as beef pares, is a Filipino dish that consists of a bowl of clear soup, some garlic fried rice, and a serving of braised beef stew.

One of the most successful “paresan” in the country is Pares Point The Original in Makati City.

Rodel Anisor is the chief executive officer of the said pares business.

In the Pera Paraan of GMA Public Affairs, Rodel recalled the times his mom was pushing a kariton or cart to sell lugaw or porridge.

“Meron siyang kariton dati ‘tapos yung lugaw na iyon inilalako ng kapatid niya,” he said. “Tapos yung lugaw, nilagyan ng mga beef, mami. Yung may sabaw.”

But like the other illegal vendors, they also experienced being caught by the authorities.

Such experience inspired Rodel to find means for how their small business become stable.

Eventually, they found a place (for rent) where they established their pares business.

“Naaalala ko PHP800 puhunan sa isang araw, siguro meron akong dala na mga tatlong kilong karne hanggang apat na kilo,” he said.

Now, his kariton has been replaced with a spacious restaurant and is earning more or less one million pesos every month.

Their restaurant is flooded with customers, especially during lunch and nighttime.

Of course, their bestseller is a special pares worth PHP130 with rice per order.

Presently, at least 150 kilos of beef and five sacks of rice were being cooked in their restaurant daily. With beef that cost PHP420 per kilo, the capital needed is at least PHP1.8 million every month.
