Latest Update on the Case of Jovelyn Galleno
JOVELYN GALLENO CASE – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) – Palawan will conduct a parallel investigation on the case of the missing lady.
Galleno, a 22-year-old graduating student made a buzz after she went missing upon entering a mall in Palawan.
More than two weeks later, remains of a woman believed to be Jovelyn were found in Purok Pulang Lupa Brgy. Sta. Lourdes.
There were identification cards recovered from the crime scene. The mother of the missing lady confirmed that they belong to her daughter.
However, there were assumptions that the body found is not Jovelyn Galleno, prompting the authorities to conduct DNA testing.
A lot of experts including Doc. Eunice Herrera, a medicolegal officer of Puerto Princesa, and Dr. Fi Atencio of the City Health Department, shared their opinion about the matter.
On the other hand, the suspects behind the killing resurfaced. In an interview, Leobert Dasmariñas alias Padung, cousin of Jovelyn, detailed how he and his accomplice identified as Jovert Valdestamon, also a cousin of Jovelyn, committed the crime.
Padung claimed he was just the lookout while Valdestamon is the “mastermind.”
Meanwhile, NBI-Palawan will conduct a parallel investigation on the case of Jovelyn.
According to Special Investigator III Cedric Caabay of NBI, their office will conduct a separate investigation at the same time, a separate DNA examination on the alleged remains found earlier which are said to be of Jovelyn.
“As of now, yung mga narekober ng mga residente sa Pulang Lupa na mga allegedly isang part ng katawan ng isang tao ay isa-submit natin for DNA examination,” Caabay said.
Based on the report of Super Radyo DYSP 909Khz Palawan, experts from Manila are expected to be in Palawan this week to find more details about the victim as well as those who were said to be suspects.
