Galenzoga, a graduate of accounting management at Xavier University used to sell ice candy at Cagayan de Oro City Hall.

The 22-year-old beauty queen who hails from Barangay Balulang bested the other contestants in the three-hour pageant.

It was the first face-to-face pageant in the city since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Galenzoga wowed the judges and the crowd with her answer to a pre-taped question by actor Gerald Anderson about modern women.

“A modern woman should be someone who inspires younger women and other women across the universe. She should embody someone who is strong, resilient and one who believes in endless possibilities,” she said.

Aside from Arianne Galenzoga, among those who won the pageant are the following Angelu Barro of Barangay Canitoan as Miss Cagayan de Oro-Pilipinas 2022; 1st runner up Cris Antonet Teano of Carmen, 2nd runner up Blanche Nicole Villaluz of Nazareth, 3rd runner up Lensyl Anne Patricio of Carmen and 4th runner up Luisa Merrey Bingtan of Iponan.

Maricel Rivera Casino, the former Cagayan de Oro information officer confirmed that Galenzoga used to sell ice candy in City Hall.

Ice candy is one of the most popular summertime Filipino sweets. It is a smoothie or frozen juice in a pop-ice-like plastic container. The sole distinction is that homemade ice candy is produced with fresh fruit, while other varieties are available in sari-sari (variety) shops and are made with artificial fruit flavoring.

“She is very friendly and grounded. Walay air,” she said.

Meanwhile, Arianne Galenzoga will compete in Miss Universe Philippines next year.
