Meet the new chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board or MTRCB
LALA SOTTO-ANTONIO – The daughter of former Senate President Tito Sotto has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Lala is one of the latest appointees of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who was inaugurated last June 30 as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
The daughter of Tito Sotto and actress Helen Gamboa went to social media wherein she shared some snaps of her recent oathtaking at the Malacañang Palace.
Lala takes over the post of former chairman of the board, Atty. Jeremiah Jaro.
Before being appointed as the new chairperson of MTRCB, Lala served as councilor of Quezon City for 18 years.
She ran last May 9 elections as the second nominee of the AGAP Party list ( as representative of the farmers) however, they only got one spot in the 19th Congress.
Tito Sotto has issued a statement following the appointment of his daughter on the said post.
He believes that his daughter will do well given her background.
He also mentioned Sen. Grace Poe and Congresswoman Rachel Arenas, former chairpersons of MTRCB that her daughter should emulate.
MTRCB is a government agency under the Office of the President of the Philippines that is responsible for the classification and review of television programs, motion pictures, and home videos.
It also serves as a de facto censorship body in the country.
