DOH Speaks on Lucky Me Products Getting Involved in Issues

DOH – The Department of Health broke its silence on health concerns involving some products of popular noodle brand “Lucky Me”.

A lot of Filipinos love eating the products of the popular Pinoy noodle brand “Lucky Me”. Owned by Monde Nissin, the said noodle brand is visibly one of the most well-known in the country and its pancit canton is a favorite of many people.

The Lucky Me pancit canton comes in different flavors – original, calamansi, chili-mansi, and extra hot chili. These are appealing to people of different ages – kids, teenagers, young adults, and adults. Many Filipinos love eating Lucky Me pancit canton at any time of the day.

Most of the time, Lucky Me products are served for breakfast and afternoon snacks. They are usually paired with bread and egg but there are also cases when they serve as viand and are paired with rice.

However, recently, a lot of people were alarmed after reports of some Lucky Me products being recalled in some countries crossed the surface. France and Ireland are among the countries that issued statements warning the consumers about some of the noodle brand’s products.

The countries cited the alleged presence of ethylene oxide, a pesticide, in the products. Monde Nissin was quick to explain that it was used in the treatment of the spices to prevent the growth of microorganisms.

Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) broke its silence on the health concerns involving the Lucky Me products. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the health department expressed that the Food and Drugs Agency (FDA) will investigate the noodles cited in the product recall.

According to DOH, with regards to the possibility of recalling the products, only those products that are contaminated by the banned substance will be recalled. The probe will observe a process and more updates may be posted soon.

  1. Ayun nga sa kasabihan ng Pinoy, ang puno ay binabato kapag hitik na hitik na ang bunga. Maaari siguro may batch lang na ‘contaminated’ at hindi lahat. Sa KSA mas triple higpit deka dekada na ang Lucky Me dun wala nman napaulat na ganyan. Sa ibang produkto tinatapon agad kung meron man at inaabisuhan ang Country of Origin at di na dina-diaryo. Take note EU countries ang may reklamo.

  2. Grabe pagka narrow minded mo. EU and the US normally set the standards on safety on everything. They ensure to the best if their abilities that all products sold to the public is safe to be consumed. Dahil us Asians and other 3rd world countries think like you and normally have mentality like yours and doesn’t have the discipline to ensure matters like the topic is safely produced.
