Here’s the message of Jay Sonza to Koko Pimentel
JAY SONZA – The former broadcast journalist took to social media wherein he slammed Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel.
This, after Pimentel and fellow Senator Risa Hontiveros, filed a resolution urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to withdraw the remaining drug charges against former Senator Leila de Lima and release her from detention.
“Without question, her continued detention is one of the grossest injustices ever committed to a sitting Senator,” Pimentel and Hontiveros said.
To recall, it was in 2017 when De Lima was arrested and detained at Camp Crame after the Department of Justice filed charges against her due to her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade or alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In the three drug cases filed against her, she was acquitted on Criminal Case 17-166, in which she was accused of allegedly extorting drug money from Peter Co, a convicted drug lord. The case was dismissed because according to the court, the evidence against De Lima was weak.
Jay Sonza, a former broadcaster, was not in favor of the resolution filed by Pimentel and Hontiveros.
Sonza aired his frustration against his fellow Mindanaoan on a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Sonza is one of the biggest journalists in the country from the 1980s until early 2000.
He once worked with Kapuso broadcast journalist, Mel Tiangco and before he retired, he was the station manager of UNTV.
Pimentel has yet to issue any statement over the remarks of Jay Sonza.
