A gift for Duterte from his supporters
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former president of the Republic of the Philippines received an expensive watch worth over one million pesos from his supporters.
Duterte steps down as the country’s chief executive last June 30, in time with the inauguration and oath-taking of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
After serving the country for six years, he is now back in his life as an ordinary citizen.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles and blogger Krizette Laureta Chu that the supporters of Duterte contributed to giving him a retirement gift.
On Monday, July 18, Cruz-Angeles showed Duterte the watch that they bought after fundraising.
According to her, they gave him a Breguet Classique Day Date Moonphase, which cost more than one million pesos.
Duterte eventually expressed his support to those who contributed to buying him such a luxurious watch
“I do not have a way of knowing who the persons who contributed to buy this watch for me. But I just, I would like to say dumating ito sa akin because of my, maybe my work as a president,” he said.
According to the former president, he will not wear the watch while driving his motorcycle but only on special occasions.
Aside from the watch, the supporters of Duterte also donated to the House of Hope Foundation that he usually visits.
Previously, Duterte was spotted in front of his house wearing an old t-shirt, pajama, and slippers along with Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte while looking at his grandson on board a motorcycle.
On another occasion, he was seen at a mall.
