Alfred is proud to have filed a total of 1,256 resolutions and house bills — 87 of which have been enacted into law.

Some of Alfred’s principally authored laws were the following: National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA), the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, Iskolar ng Bayan Act, Tulong Trabaho Act, and the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.

Also, Alfred was awarded the Congressional Medal of Distinction at the adjournment of the 18th Congress.

During his last State of the District Address (SODA), Alfred said that putting his career in show business on hold in favor of a public position was a tough and very personal decision.

He, whose brother Patrick Michael Vargas won the congressional seat of Quezon City’s 5th district in the 2022 elections, was referring to the time he ran (and won) for councilor in 2010 as a “bagito”.

Malinaw sa akin yan noon pa man. Kaya iniwan natin ang showbiz para sa paglilingkod sa kapwa. At dito nagsimulang mas maging makabuluhan ang aking buhay,” he said.

With his passion for public service fulfilled, he admitted that he can’t completely forget about “acting” just yet. He also said that he would do such projects when he feels he has done enough for his constituency.

Alfred was also asked what he misses most about show business. According to him, he missed working with some of the most creative and hardworking artists in the showbiz industry.

GMA Entertainment reported that Alfred’s family is what he can’t sacrifice or put on hold as his family will always come first. Alfred believed that every public official has the right to keep a part of himself private.
