PBBM will deliver his first SONA this coming Monday, July 25.

Cayetano, the “political nemesis” of PBBM in the 2016 vice presidential race, said that the country’s chief executive should be “honest” in his SONA.

According to the senator, the president should tell the people the true state of the country along with his proposed solutions to the challenges faced by the nation.

Cayetano also believes that it’s time for the proper “etiquette” to return.

He stressed that cursing season is over.

“Etiquette sa social media. Do we really have a curriculum o module man lang? Have we come together to say na ‘Okay guys, hindi okay magmura.’ Tapos na yung period na may nagmumura tayong pangulo,” he said.

Cayetano also noted that one of the challenges that the new administration is facing is to stop division.

It can be recalled that it was in 2016 when he ran for vice president as the running mate of former President Rodrigo Duterte. However, he lost to former Vice President Leni Robredo.

Alan Peter Cayetano also served as the Representative of Taguig–Pateros from 2019 to 2022 and from 1998 until 2007.

He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 until his resignation in October 2020.

He served as the Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2018 under the Duterte administration.

Duterte, who is now back in his home in Davao City, has yet to comment on the statement of Cayetano.
