Tulfo is considered one of the most popular broadcast journalists in the country. He’s known as “Hari ng public service” in his program ‘Wanted sa Radyo.”

He’s also famous on the video-sharing platform, YouTube thanks to his channel, “Raffy Tulfo in Action” which has over 22 million subscribers.

He landed in the third spot in senatorial elections.

It was on May 5, 2020, when the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida issued a cease-and-desist order to ABS-CBN.

On July 10, 2020, members of the House of Representatives, particularly the Committee on Legislative Franchises, voted 70–11 to deny the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several issues with the network’s franchise.

Following the closure of the Kapamilya Network, a lot of ABS-CBN employees lost their jobs. Some workers decided to transfer to other networks.

But according to the incoming senator, he’s not in favor of shutting down the said network.

In an interview with Rappler, Tulfo said that the network would not have been shut down because thousands of workers were affected.

According to him, it would be better for the Kapamilya Network to just pay its debts to the government if there are any.

“Kung mayroon mang utang ang ABS-CBN sana inobliga na lang ‘yung ABS-CBN na bayaran ‘yung utang na ‘yon rather than ipasara totally. Kasi maraming naapektuhang empleyado, libo-libo ang nawalan ng trabaho,” he said.
