President Duterte on Bongbong Marcos: “Alam mo noong kampanya sa senador, nakikisakay lang ‘yan siya sa akin.”
PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE — The Philippine President claimed that presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr had no money and lived simply.
This, after calling the former senator “a weak leader” and “a spoiled child”.
The President a few days before the May 2022 elections claimed that Bongbong had no money and lived simply.
President Duterte claimed in an interview with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy on SMNI on Friday, May 6, that the Philippine government through the years failed to find any ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos family. Also, the President said that Bongbong even hitched a ride with him.
“Alam mo noong kampanya sa senador, nakikisakay lang iyan siya sa akin… Kung saan ako, kung may pera siya noon o wala, magtataka kami,” the President said. “Walang pera ito, wala ng pera. At simula noong wala naman, simple living lang siya.”
To recall, the President ruled out a coalition with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Lakas-CMD in a speech before PDP-Laban stalwarts. The remarks were in November 2021 when his daughter already announced that she was running for vice president as Bongbong’s running mate.
“Hindi ako bilib. He (Bongbong) is a weak leader. Totoo yan, di ako naninira, kasi spoiled child, only son,” the President said. at that time.

Bongbong responded to a speech wherein President Duterte said that he’s a “weak leader” and a “spoiled brat” in CNN Philippines’ “The Presidential Candidates: In Private” interview.
At that time, the former senator believed that the President was just “playing politics” when President Duterte called him unsavory names not too long ago.
