Harry Potter? Will the young wizard gets to enjoy his free MRT-3 ride?
HARRY POTTER – The titular character was featured in the meme posted by the Department of Transportation on April 1, 2022, or April Fools’ Day for the MRT-3 free ride promo.
In a photo posted by the said agency on the social networking site, Facebook, “Harry Potter” can be seen waiting for the train at North Avenue Station ng Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3).
The post was accompanied by the caption: “JUST IN: Harry Potter on board na sa Hogwarts Express este DOTr MRT-3 dahil sa libreng sakay na ipinatutupad dito hanggang April 30!” with the hashtags, #DOTrPH #MRT3 #LibrengSakay.
The photo was obviously a joke and was posted amid the traditional April Fools’ Day.
However, the DOTr social media team connected it to the agency’s free ride program on MRT-3 until the end of April.
It may be recalled that after the inauguration of the rehabilitation of the MRT-3 tracks on March 22, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that commuters will be free to ride here from March 28.
Meanwhile, netizens enjoy commenting on the DOTr post.
One commenter said that the social media team of DOTr is witty.
Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe in the movie, allegedly did not have a face mask, so he was not allowed to ride.
Another commuter said will board if Hermione, Emma Watson’s character, is also there.
On a serious note, someone commented that the MRT-3 is slow and congested so Harry will not be able to enjoy the free ride.
A netizen said, “Sana ayusin nyo din yung LRT 1. Lagi na lang nagloloko ‘tapos ang init pa. Nakakaperhuwisyo sa mga pasahero.”
