In a statement, DepEd said the group “Nueva Ecija Doctors for Leni” used the song “Dakila Ka, Bayani ka” written for the frontliners in Robredo’s political video.

The said song was sung by Martin Nievera, Michael V, Carol Banawa, TJ Monterde, Sassa Dagdag and other artists to honor the frontliners who laid down their lives to serve the country in the midst of the pandemic.

Arnie Mendaros and Albert Tamayo wrote the song. DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones also participated in the said song.

“While we respect the political choice of the medical personnel featured in the video, we are appalled that the people behind the production of the said video did not even practice due diligence in securing permission first from the artists who graciously lent their time and talent for the song,” Education Undersecretary Alain Del Pascua said.

According to them, they will take legal action against those behind the music video.

Robredo People’s Council Hope and Beyond Nueva Ecija group has deleted the said video.

Robredo’s camp has not yet made a statement on DepEd’s action against them.

Meanwhile, Robredo will run for president in the coming elections together with her runningmate, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. They will go against the tandem of; former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
