Rodante Marcoleta Boasts He Shut Down ABS-CBN

Marcoleta: “Isinara ko po ang ABS-CBN”

RODANTE MARCOLETA -The House Deputy Speaker and Sagip Party-list Representative boasted that he shut down ABS-CBN.

Marcoleta is running for senator under the picket of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

In the UniTeam’s campaign rally in Carmen, Davao del Norte, Marcoleta was proud to say that he shut down ABS-CBN.

He also mentioned ABS-CBN as one of the biggest networks in the country.

“Pinakamalaking network sa ating bansa, makapangyarihan. Kaya niyang ibagsak pati political career ng isang kandidato,”

“Hindi po tayo natakot. Isinara ko po ang ABS-CBN dahil sa inyo. Ngayon pa ba ako matatakot? Kasama ko na si Bongbong Marcos. Ngayon pa ba ako matatakot? Kasama ko na si Inday Duterte,” he added.

Marcoleta is one of those against the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.

It can be recalled that it was on May 5, 2020, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida issued a cease-and-desist order to ABS-CBN.

On July 10, 2020, members of the House of Representatives, particularly the Committee on Legislative Franchises, voted 70–11 to deny the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several issues with the network’s franchise.

Following the closure of the Kapamilya Network, a lot of ABS-CBN employees lost their jobs.

Meanwhile, Rodante Dizon Marcoleta is a politician serving as the Party-list Representative for SAGIP since 2016, and as a House Deputy Speaker in the 18th Congress since July 2019 under the leadership of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Lord Allan Velasco.

He’s also known as the proponent of slashing the budget of the Commission on Human Rights to 1,000 pesos.
