Here’s what transpired during CNN debate featuring Walden Bello, Tito Sotto and Kiko Pangilinan
WALDEN BELLO – The microphone of the vice-presidential aspirant was turned off during a debate after arguing with Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
It was just recently when CNN Philippines held a presidential and vice-presidential debate.
Among those who attended the debate for VP is former Akbayan party-list Rep. Walden Bello.
Bello slammed Sotto for allegedly being submissive to President Rodrigo Duterte in pushing some bills of the current administration.
Some of the laws Bello mentioned are the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Public Service Act, and the Foreign Investment Act, and the Rice Tarrification Act.
“Wag ho tayong mag-rewrite ng history kasi lahat naman ng key legislative na itinulak ni President Duterte, who was the biggest backer? It was Mr. Sotto,” he said.
“He never dissented from any major legislation kaya ho hindi independent ang kandidatong ito,” he added.
He added that he considered Sotto an ally of the current administration because he did not even criticize the President’s controversial programs.
Meanwhile, he also slapped Sen. Kiko Pangilinan along with Sotto because of their allegiance to the US.
Due to Bello’s relentless criticism, the moderators of the said debate were forced to turn off the former legislator’s microphone.
After the debate, Sotto said that what he is doing is for his countrymen, so he is promoting good laws.
