Charcoal Painting of Pinoy Artist Portraying Michael Jordan Could Reach P40-Million

The charcoal painting of a Pinoy artist named Christian Talampas of Michael Jordan could now be worth P40 million.

Christian Oliver Talampas has been a solid fan of the basketball legend Michael Jordan ever since he was a kid. He admired Jordan’s laser-like focus, his never-quit attitude, his hard work and persistence.

Talampas even wanted to become like his idol and started to dream of being noticed by the basketball player. However, he is an artist and did not have dream of specific careers to pursue.

The charcoal painter lost his job as a delivery rider due to the coronavirus pandemic and started to sell paintings to earn money. Several people purchased his artworks and he earned a few hundred bucks.

However, the artist expressed his willingness to succeed with his line of expertise. He decided to create a charcoal painting of NBA photographer Fernando Medina’s shot called “Last Shot”. The photo has topped in Sports Illustrated’s 100 Greatest Sports Photos of All Time.

Last year, he draw Michael Jordan’s “Last Shot” using charcoal, pencil and colored pencil. It took him 72 days to finish the artwork. He also asked the netizens to help him reach the basketball star’s attention.

He captioned the post with:

The dream started when I was a little boy, I promised myself that one day I will be great because each and everyone of us have the privilege to achieve it, some are just afraid to try.

“I can accept failure but I can’t accept not trying” – Michael Jordan

One day, he received a message from an Original Graphic (OG) collector who offered to send his artwork to Jordan. The collector messaged him that MJ wants to do something with his artwork. Eventually, MJ signed the artwork.

Secret Fresh gallery owner Bigboy Cheng said that the artwork with MJ’s autograph could reach P40 million.
