Meet Mary Nicole Gee, from beauty queen to army
MARY NICOLE GEE – The former beauty queen is now a soldier who’s serving the Philippine Army as a second lieutenant.
Gee never thought that one day she will become a soldier. She was born to a British father and a Filipina mom.
She ventured into modeling and show business at a very young age. She was only 8-months-old when she became a model of a baby powder brand.
During her teenage years, she became a talent of ABS-CBN and GMA. She still does modeling on the side. In fact, she was once an endorser of Cebu Pacific.
She was 18-years-old when she ventured into pageantry. At the time, she joined Binibining Catandugan and luckily she won.
She juggled studying, joining pageants as well as working as a model and talent in order to help her family financially.
When she was a third-year college student, she thought of entering the Philippine Army despite the opposition of her parents. Eventually, she was able to pursue her dream, despite the tedious application process, rigorous training, and being far away from her loved ones.
Currently, Gee is serving as a young Military Officer in the 82nd Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division in Cebu.
“In becoming a soldier, you will have to face your fears and do things beyond your limit. It is then that you need to think less of yourself and more of the service for our country,” she said.
Her story was also posted on the official Facebook page of the Philippine Army. It generated mixed reactions from the netizens.
