House of Representatives OKs Bill Seeking to Grant P1-Million for 101-Year-Old Filipinos

HOUSE – The lower chamber of the legislative branch approved the bill seeking to give P1 million to Filipinos aged 101.

Undeniably, reaching the age of 80 and up is really a challenge nowadays considering the lifestyle that many people are living. There are a lot of delicious but unhealthy foods that many people will surely find hard to resist. It is a part of the other unhealthy habits like not having enough sleep amid busy lives.

It is undeniably easier to be unhealthy than to live a healthy lifestyle – but, there are great rewards on the other side. Apart from the fact that you can evade certain diseases if you live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy a long life with your loved ones, in the Philippines, there is another external reward.

The national government is giving individuals who reached 100 years old P100,000.00. This can really be a big help not only for the centenarian but also for the family.

Recently, another bill that seeks to grant a greater gift for the centenarian got the green signal of the House of Representatives. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the bill seeking to give P1-million to Filipinos aged 101 was approved in the lower chamber on its final reading.

According to the report, House Bill 10647 got a 193-0 voting result. It seeks to make amendments to the Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.

Under HB 10647, not only the individuals who reached 101 years old will receive a monetary gift. It is for ages 80, 85, 90, 95, and 101. The octogenarians and the nonagenarians will be given P25,000.00. It assigns the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) as the lead implementer of the bill. Reportedly, the bill will be submitted to the Senate.
