Sen. Manny Pacquiao Posts Message for Fellow Candidates in 2022 Presidential Election
MANNY PACQUIAO – The Senator wrote an appeal to his fellow presidential candidates following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in the Philippines.
Preparations were done even before Typhoon Odette, Typhoon Rai in the international name, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The forecast prompted massive preparations which include evacuations of people living in flood-prone areas.
Typhoon Odette is undeniably one of the strongest storms that hit the Philippines this year. Several cities and provinces were left in flood and many families lost their homes.
Several houses were destroyed by the strong winds brought by Typhoon Odette while others got damaged after uprooted trees hit it. Many people were left with no house and source of living.
Currently, there are still no final details on the extent of the damage caused by Typhoon Odette and as well as the death toll. Rescue and clearing operations are still ongoing in several areas nationwide.
Several local government units, private individuals, and government leaders have extended help to the victims of the typhoon. One of them is presidential aspirant and Senator Manny Pacquiao.
Sen. Pacquiao decided to forego a grand celebration on his birthday and, instead, use his birthday funds to help the victims of Typhoon Odette. He sent relief goods and cash to some of the victims and he is planning to visit some provinces hit by the typhoon.
On social media, Sen. Manny Pacquiao also posted an appeal to his fellow presidential candidates in the 2022 Election – Vice Pres. Leni Robredo, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos, Sen. Ping Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and labor leader Ka Leody de Guzman that they will set aside politics and join forces in helping the typhoon victims in Visayas and Mindanao. In his post, he stressed that “now is the time to come together as one”:
