Moreno told reporters in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu that he will vote for four senatorial aspirants — Carl Balita, Samira Gutoc, Jopet Sison, and President Duterte.

I’m going to vote for him personally, I’m going to endorse him kung papayag siya, I’ll be honored,” Moreno said. “I’ll be humbled and honored na umoo si Pangulong Duterte. Nakuha ko nga siyang iboto, hindi ko pa ba makuhang siya’y i-adopt.

According to Moreno, he wanted to have more candidates in his Senate slate, but he’s happy with the three candidates under Aksyon Demokratiko.

Moreno was also asked why he’s voting for President Duterte. According to him, the public can’t discount what the President has done for the Philippines, adding that the President was very qualified for the Senate.

President Duterte’s accomplishments, especially the “Build, build, build” program, were just some of the main reasons why Moreno considered adopting him in his senatorial slate.

Bakit hindi? I think, well hindi natin pwedeng tawaran ‘yong kanyang kakayanan, he is a qualified candidate for the Senate, in fairness to him,” Moreno said. “Basta ito personal choice ko ha. In fairness to him, kami, for example, sa mga nagawa niya para sa Maynila, ‘yang Clark Airport.

Meanwhile, Aksyon Demokratiko supported Moreno’s decision to support President Duterte’s senatorial bid, saying they have taken a “centrist” approach.

Aksyon Demokratiko chairperson Ernest Ramel clarified that the party wasn’t an opposition party, which means, they weren’t necessarily against the administration.

According to the party, while they believed that some of the current administration’s programs needed fine-tuning, they thought some were worth continuing.

Moreno had been tagged by some reports as President Duterte’s secret candidate, which he denied.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who served as the long-time aide of President Duterte, had earlier announced that he will be withdrawing from the presidential race in the 2022 elections.
