Mayor Sara Duterte Speaks on VP Bid in Election 2022
SARA DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor and vice-presidential aspirant explained why she decided to run for vice president and not president.
During the period set by the Commission on Election (Comelec) for substitutions and changes with regards to the Election 2022, one of those whose moves sparked a lot of reports was Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
The presidential daughter withdrew her candidacy for re-election as the mayor of Davao City. Supposedly she was vying for her third term as the mayor of Davao City.
After withdrawing her candidacy for re-election, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte resigned from the regional party she founded – Hugpong ng Pagbabago. She then joined the national party Lakas-CMD.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte substituted the vice-presidential bet of Lakas-CMD. She is adopted by Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, the party of presidential aspirant and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr., and they formed the BBM-Sara tandem.
According to Mayor Sara, her decision to run for vice president is to meet her supporters halfway. Many are calling for the presidential daughter to run for president in the Election 2022.
Recently, speaking to the people in Tagum City, Davao del Norte where they had a caravan, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte explained why she is running for vice president and not president.
According to the presidential daughter, there are times in life when a person has to stand behind another leader instead of being the one who leads.
“Bakit? Because oftentimes in life, we find ourselves to be a leader. Pero sometimes, in our lives, we need to stand behind another leader,” she said.
Based on the report, the Davao City Mayor said that she’s supporting BBM for president because of his experience. She cited that he has served as a local governor, congressman, and senator.
“Ito ang tutulong sa kanya para magampanan niya ang kanyang trabaho bilang pangulo ng Pilipinas,” the Davao City Mayor said.
