Pres. Duterte Speaks on Meeting with Sen. Pacquiao
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte claimed that presidential aspirant and Sen. Manny Pacquiao invited him to join forces.
Recently, many were surprised by the meeting of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sen. Manny Pacquiao at Malacañang. The two (2) politicians previously had issues and their political party, PDP-Laban, was divided into two (2) wings.
The Senator was vocal about his corruption accusations to different parts of agencies under the government. However, the issues did not earn a full go signal from the President for investigation.
Pres. Duterte and Sen. Pacquiao belong to different wings of PDP-Laban. Their recent meeting was known to the public as a renewal of the friendship of the two (2) politicians following the past issues.
However, recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte made a different claim. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive said that Sen. Manny Pacquiao came to Malacañang to ask him to join forces in the upcoming Election 2022.
According to the President, the Senator cited the welfare of Mindanao in his supposed invitation to him that they will join forces in the upcoming election. However, according to the Chief Executive, he cannot support the Senator in the upcoming election.
Based on the report, Pres. Duterte stressed that his support is for Sen. Bong Go who is also seeking the presidential position in the upcoming election. The Senator recently withdrew his candidacy for vice president and decided to be the standard-bearer of PDP-Laban Cusi wing.
Go decided to withdraw from the vice-presidential race after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte substituted the candidate of Lakas-CMD for vice president. According to the President, it was him who convinced the Senator to take the presidential race if he does not want a face-off with the presidential daughter for vice president.
There is a claim that the President will run for vice president in the next election. More updates may be posted soon.
