IVANA ALAWI — The actress and social media star recently surprised her mother Fatima Marbella with this birthday gift as their family went on a fruit picking trip to Tanauan, Batangas.
Ivana treated her mother, Fatima Marbella or “Mama Alawi”, to a whopping PHP 1 million surprise birthday gift as their family went on a fruit picking trip to Tanauan, Batangas.
She explained in her recent vlog that she decided to give her mother money for her birthday since her mother refused her offer to buy gifts. According to her, her mother didn’t like material gifts because it’s wasteful, adding that she wanted to buy food for others instead.
“Ayaw niya ng gamit kasi sayang. Gusto niyang bumili ng pagkain para sa ibang tao,” Ivana said.
For the said birthday surprise, the actress hung 10 bank checks amounting to PHP 100,000 each in a vineyard that they visited.
The actress and her siblings Hash and Mona pretended that they would play a game wherein the one who gathered the most grapes in one minute would win a prize.

According to her, Mama Alawi had always wanted to go fruit picking but her mother never got the chance to do so.
When the “timer” for their game started, Ivana’s mother was surprised to see a plastic bag containing a PHP 100,000 check hanging from a grapevine.
Mama Alawi then asked Ivana if the check was real, and Ivana encouraged her to pluck the bag from the tree and to look for more bank checks.
Ivana’s mother only gathered 7 checks when the timer for the “game” ran out, but the actress told her to look for 3 more scattered around the vineyard.
The said “game” ended when Ivana’s mother finished collecting all 10 bank checks.
Aside from the PHP 1 million given by the actress, Mona and Hash each gave their mother PHP 100,000 as well.
“We asked her dati pa kung ano’ng gusto niya. Lagi niyang sinasabing ‘wala.’ So we gave her cash para siya na ang pumili,” Hash said.
Aside from grape-picking, the Alawi family went fishing, jet skiing in a lake in Tanauan, and enjoying a picnic where they sang “Happy Birthday” to Mama Alawi.
