#DisqualifyMarcos Trending on Twitter Now

#DISQUALIFYMARCOS – The said hashtag is currently trending on social media and a rally is held outside the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

One of the presidential aspirants for the Election 2022 is the late dictator’s son and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. In 2016, he also ran for vice president but lost to Vice President Leni Robredo.

Marcos Jr. contested the victory of Robredo but his protest was junked by the Court. In 2022, both of them are running for president alongside other presidential candidates including Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Ping Lacson, and Sen. Bato dela Rosa.

Currently, there are calls for the cancellation or denial of the candidacy of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos for president. It is due to the tax evasion conviction of the former Senator.

Marcos Jr.’s camp expressed that they await the official notification from the poll body regarding the petition. His spokesperson, Vic Rodriguez, tagged the petition as a “predictable nuisance” and stressed that they will not engage in “gutter politics”.

Rodriguez admitted that he has yet to read the contents of the petition. The Comelec has yet to meet and decide on the issue.

According to former Sen. Bongbong Marcos, he is not afraid and he will not back out from the presidential race. For the 2022 Election, there is a total of 97 presidential aspirants.
