The Oplan Bangon Cagayan group was conducting a relief operation on October 31 at the Barangay Mission in the said town when the police suddenly arrived.

“While we were having our relief goods distribution, we were surprised that a (patrol car) came and police officers put up a tarpaulin with ‘Duterte Legacy’ on it,” Zach Xavier Singson, the leader of the group said.

Aside from carrying a tarpaulin with the words “Duterte Legacy,” one of the policemen approached Singson’s colleagues and asked if they could be photographed while handing relief goods with the tarpaulin as the background.

Singson allegedly refused but the police insisted. And when they got the picture, they left immediately.

The chief of Sta. Teresita Police claimed that some policemen only went there to make sure that such activities follow the health protocol.

Social distancing is one of the protocols that must be observed especially if there’s a gathering of a huge number of people such as relief distribution.

According to the police chief, carrying a tarpaulin is part of their assistance in the conduct of such activities.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has yet to comment on the matter. The palace has yet to make a comment as well.

Last July, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will not brag about his administration’s accomplishments and legacy.
