Last Saturday, Senator Bong Go filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president in the 2022 elections.

President Rodrigo Duterte said in a video obtained by ABS-CBN News that her daughter will run for president alongside vice-presidential candidate Senator Bong Go in the 2022 elections.

When asked if he had given Sara permission to run for president, Duterte said that wasn’t the case.

Ah, no, actually hindi kami nag-uusap ng pulitika, ever since we never talk about politics. I would say that it is for the better,” President Duterte said.

Mayor Sara filed her COC for her reelection as Davao City mayor on Saturday, while Baste filed his COC for his reelection as Davao City vice mayor on Sunday.

When asked about the “Sara-Go” tandem, Mayor Sara said “no comment” in a message to GMA News Online.

While Mayor Sara didn’t give a comment on the matter, Baste said that his sister will not change her mind on her decision.

Pag may sinabi siya (Mayor Sara), ‘di niya binabago. That’s what I expect from her. So ganoon talaga. Sinabi niya dati na hindi siya tatakbo, ayaw maniwala ng mga tao. Nangyari na ang dapat mangyari,” Baste said.

Meanwhile, Manila Bulletin reported that Baste filed the certificate of candidacy (COC) of his brother, First Congressional District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, as re-electionist for the same position he has now.

Based on the report, Paolo was currently under isolation and was recovering after testing positive for coronavirus disease.
