Malacañang Palace Releases List of Holidays for 2022

HOLIDAY 2022 – Malacañang Palace announced that President Duterte has declared the holidays and special days for 2022.

Nowadays, a lot of people especially workers and students love holidays. Most of us also love class and work suspension so we could spend more time with our family, friends and loved ones.

Many people are spending the holidays on vacation and rest. They were taking the opportunity to seize their leisure time.

On Friday (October 29, 2021), President Duterte has approved the Proclamation No. 1236 declaring the regular holidays, non-working days, and special working days for next year.

“For the country to recover from the adverse economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a need to encourage economic productivity by, among others, minimizing work disruption and commemorating some special holidays as special (working) days instead,” the proclamation reads.

Here is the list of holidays:

Regular holidays

  • New Year’s Day– January 1 (Saturday)
  • Araw ng Kagitingan– April 9 (Saturday)
  • Labor Day– May 1 (Sunday)
  • Independence Day– June 12 (Sunday)
  • National Heroes’ Day– August 30 (Last Monday of August)
  • Bonifacio Day– November 30 (Wednesday)
  • Christmas Day– December 25 (Sunday)
  • Rizal Day – December 30 (Friday)

Special non-working days

  • Chinese New Year– February 1 (Tuesday)
  • Edsa People Power Anniversary– February 25 (Friday)
  • Black Saturday– April 16
  • Ninoy Aquino Day– August 21 (Sunday)
  • All Saints’ Day– November 1 (Tuesday)
  • Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary– December 8 (Thursday)

Additional special (working) days

  • All Souls’ Day – November 2 (Wednesday)
  • Christmas Eve – December 24 (Saturday)
  • Last Day of the Year– December 31 (Saturday)
