Recently, Robredo and her vice presidential running mate Kiko Pangilinan bared the names of the senatorial candidates under their slate.

Among those who will run under their slate are senators; Richard Gordon, Joel Villanueva, Miguel Zubiri, Risa Hontiveros, Leila de Lima, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Representative Teddy Baguilat, Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno and Alex Lacson of Kapatiran.

Apparently, the nephew of actress Angel Locsin was not included in the senatorial slate of Leni and Kiko.

Neri Colmenares is the nephew of Angel or Angelica Locsin Colmenares in real life, although he is 25 years older than her. Angel is 36-years-old while Neri is 61. Her father and Neri’s dad are related but there are no further details about them.

For Colmenares, his non-inclusion is in the best interest of Leni’s candidacy.

“Vice President Leni Robredo’s decision on who to include in her senatorial slate is her prerogative as the presidential candidate. My non-inclusion in her slate at this time is based on what she thinks is best for the interest of her candidacy,” he said.

It was in 2019 when Colmenares joined the senatorial race but failed to clinch a spot in the Magic 12.

Colmenares is one of the members of “Manlaban sa EJK,” an advocacy group composed of several lawyers and law students. Aside from that, he’s also the representative on behalf of families of victims of extrajudicial killing in a complaint before the International Criminal Court.
