Netizens poked fun at candidacy of Senator Bato

#LetBatoLeadBatoBatoPick – The Twitter hashtag trended on the micro-blogging site right after Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa filed his COC for president.

In a dramatic turn of events, the former PNP chief-turned-senator earlier filed his Certificate of Candidacy as he vies for the highest position in the government.

He will go against presidential candidates such as; Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, and Senator Ping Lacson.

The senator will run under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-Laban with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go as his vice-presidential running mate.

Apparently, several netizens poked fun at the candidacy of Bato with the #LetBatoLeadBatoBatoPick.

As of posting, the hashtag attributed to Bato has already earned thousands of tweets.

Ronald Marapon dela Rosa also known as Bato is a retired police officer who is currently serving as a senator of the Philippines since 2019.

He also served as the chief of the Philippine National Police from July 1, 2016, to April 19, 2018, and as Director-General of the Bureau of Corrections from April 30 to October 12, 2018.

Dela Rosa was nicknamed “Bato” during his first assignment in Davao when his upperclassmen likened his body to rock.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections will post a tentative list of candidates on October 29.

On the other hand, the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022. The nationwide elections are scheduled to be held on May 9.
