It was confirmed by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.

According to him, he has included the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters player in his lineup.

Zamora said that he saw the enthusiasm of Yap when the latter helped him in the previous elections. He stressed that the PBA player is an inspiration, especially among youth, citing he can be a big influence in their anti-drug programs and advocacies.

Aside from James Yap, the ex-husband of Kris Aquino, several basketball players also entered the slate of Zamora- who’s running again for Mayor of San Juan. Among the PBA players who seek slot for councilor is Paul Artadi and Don Allado.

Artadi vies to secure a post as councilor of San Juan after two terms while Allado is seeking to recover from his defeat in 2019.

Zamora said that he wanted to have youthful councilors, “para iba naman ang perspective, iba ang kind of service.”

Zamora and his running mate, re-electionist Vice Mayor Warren Villa, and their ally councilors will file their certificate of candidacy this coming October 5 while his sister Atty. Bel Zamora will file COC for a congressional seat on Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, the filing of COC kicked off today, October 1 and it will end on October 8.

The campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022 and the election is scheduled to be held on May 9.
