Robredo will run for the highest position in the government in the coming polls.

She will go against presidential aspirants such as; former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson and Bato dela Rosa.

A lot of personalities, celebrities, and even politicians have expressed their support to Leni, and among those is Iloilo governor Arthur Defensor Jr.

The governor of Iloilo province announced that he’s backing the presidential bid of Robredo during a press conference.

“Our help will go to VP Leni,” he said.

Defensor recalled that when was still a member of the Liberal Party (LP), he experienced campaigning for Robredo in Iloilo in the 2016 elections.

Aside from that, the two also worked together when Robredo was a representative-then of Camarines Sur while Defensor was serving Iloilo as 3rd District representative.

In his support to Robredo, the governor did not use the word “endorse.”

“An endorsement is a campaign word. When you say ‘support,’ it is support to [Robredo’s] candidacy, although there is no difference there. It’s a matter of interpretation,” he explained.

The Iloilo governor also vowed support for Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, the vice presidential running mate of Robredo.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas is also backing Robredo in the coming polls.

Previously, he wore a blue shirt with a pink ribbon for a photo with the city’s LGBT Affairs chief Gab Umadhay.

He was then asked for comment to confirm if he’s endorsing Robredo and he responded with: “Yes, definitely.”
