Harry Roque said that his COC was “ready” in case Sara Duterte will run for president.
On Thursday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that his certificate of candidacy (COC) was “ready” in case Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will run for president in the 2022 elections.
Roque renewed his appeal to Mayor Sara to run for president as the end of the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2022 national elections nears its end and said that this was the only scenario wherein he will push through with his own senatorial bid.
He said in his press briefing that his certificate of candidacy was “ready” and that they planned to pray overnight in Malacañang in order to convince Mayor Sara to run for president.
“Kinakailangan po meron tayong isang salita. At minsan na po akong nagsabi na tatakbo lang ako kung tatakbo po si Mayor Sara Duterte. Handa po ang aking certificate of candidacy. Bukas po ang last day, magvi-vigil po kami dito sa Malacañang kung sakaling maghahain ng certificate of candidacy si Mayor Sara for president,” Roque said.

According to Roque, even the President, who had been opposing his daughter’s possible presidential bid, thought that Mayor Sara was the best candidate for the president.
Roque tried to convince Mayor Sara by bringing up surveys showing that people wanted her to become the next president of the country.
“We are praying for Mayor Sara to make the right decision. But in seeking the guidance of God, be reminded that the voice of the people is the voice of God,” Roque said.
Roque made the statement a day before the last day of filing of COC by those who wanted to run in the 2022 elections.
Last June, Roque said that he will only run in the 2022 elections if Mayor Sara will run for president, saying that the presidential daughter has the same qualities as the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
It’s no secret that Roque was one of those wishing for Mayor Sara’s participation in the 2022 presidential race.
