Chavit versus Ryan Singson on vice gubernatorial slate in Ilocos Sur
THE SINGSONS – Ryan Singson will go head-to-head with his father Chavit for Ilocos Sur vice gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections.
Chavit is the incumbent mayor of Narvacan while his son Ryan is the current governor of Ilocos Sur.
The two filed their certificate of candidacy (COC) on Friday, October 1 at the Commission on Elections provincial office in Vigan City.
Chavin filed his COC with his brother and running mate, Vice Governor Jerry Singson, and son, Ronald, who’s seeking a Congressional seat in the coming polls.
On the other hand, Ryan filed his COC for vice governor alongside his running mate and wife Patch Savellano Singson.
Ryan will run the said post under the Bileg Party while his father Chavit will run under the National People’s Coalition.
Chavit was the governor of the province of Ilocos Sur, starting from 1972 until 1986, again from 1992 until 2001, 2004 until 2007, and from 2010 until 2013 while Ryan was first elected as a Governor in 2013 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2019.
Meanwhile, the filing of COC kicked off today, October 1 and it will end on October 8.
Among those who are early birds in filing COC is Senators Manny Pacquiao. He will for president alongside his running mate, former Manila mayor, and Buhay Party-list Representative Lito Atienza.
The campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022 and the election is scheduled to be held on May 9.
