Rep. Paolo Duterte tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019
PAOLO DUTERTE – The presidential son and former Deputy Speaker tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The COVID-19 pandemic remains to be the biggest challenge that the country is facing today. This disease that started way back in 2019 at Wuhan, China has placed a lot of lives at risk and has even taken the lives of many people.
A lot of personalities such as celebrities, elites, and even politicians were infected with the coronavirus as well.
According to a report of GMA News, Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, the representative of Davao City’s 1st district, tested positive for COVID-19, a disease characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.
This was confirmed by his sister, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
However, the mayor said on Monday that she could not provide details yet particularly with regards to her brother’s condition since she’s yet to talk to him.
Paolo Duterte is the eldest son of former Davao City mayor-turned-president, Rodrigo Duterte.
His sister Sara and brother Sebastian are the incumbent mayor and vice mayor of Davao City, respectively.
Paolo Duterte previously served as vice mayor of the said city from 2013 until his resignation in December 2017.
Paolo Duterte himself is yet to release any statement after testing positive for the dreaded virus.
Meanwhile, many people are battling against COVID-19 now. As of Sunday, September 26, there are 2,292,006 cases already recorded of which 20,755 are new infections.
