During a virtual briefing on Monday, Lizada said that there were many job orders and contracts of services in the government who weren’t recognized as government employees.

Maraming job orders, contracts of services (COC) na nasa gobyerno pero hindi kinikilala na government employees. ‘Yun ang masakit, nasa loob na sila pero hindi sila kinikilala. As far as I know, we have 100,000 plus unfilled positions in the government,” Lizada said.

Lizada also said that only the agency heads have the power to make those positions available to job seekers.

She added that those workers who secured job orders and contracts of services were more than qualified to fill the positions as they’re already familiar with government processes.

Please open and publish the positions para ang mga job orders at COS ay makapasok na para mabigyan ng karampatan na sweldo, security of tenure. ‘Wag na mag-re-reserve ng mga position. Ibigay based on merit and fitness,” Lizada said.

The commissioner also stressed that with the current global health crisis, many Filipinos struggled to find jobs in the country.

Meanwhile, the commissioner invited Filipinos to an online job fair from September 20 until September 24. According to her, there were 127 government agencies which signed up for the online job fair and 2,660 vacancies will be opened as of this writing.
