FDCP chair among those who propose that only the fully vaccinated can watch movies once cinemas reopen
Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairperson and CEO Liza Dino discussed during a zoom mediacon for the celebration of Philippine Film Industry Month, working in the entertainment industry under the new normal.
According to her, some areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces which have been placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) can now resume taping and shooting provided that all productions have registered either on FDCP or the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Dino stressed its importance following a recent incident in Baguio involving actor Arjo Atayde.
It was on August 16, Monday, when Arjo tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Feelmaking Productions, Inc., because he has a pre-existing medical condition, the doctors, and even Arjo’s parents agreed to rush him to the hospital in Manila the next day.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong later announced that Arjo left the city despite the fact that he was positive for COVID-19.
The mayor explained that Arjo allegedly did not follow the instruction not to leave Baguio while waiting for the result of his COVID-19 test.
Magalong allegedly found out that Arjo Atayde left Baguio on August 16. It was then he was accused of abandoning his colleagues.
What happened in Baguio is one of the things that FDCP wanted to avoid, that’s why Liza Dino cited the importance of registering the production to FDCP or DOLE.
“Iba kasi kapag ‘registered kami, alam ng gobyerno ng LGU ang ginagawa namin’. May safety net ka ro’n,” she said.
Meanwhile, in the said mediacon, she also mentioned that she’s among proposing that once cinemas operate, only those who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to watch movies.
But based on the report of Bandera, while some are agreeing with the proposal, others are not in favor.
