Go-Duterte Tandem To Run In 2022 Elections — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte

Go-Duterte tandem will run in the May 2022 elections, according to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

GO-DUTERTE TANDEM — On Wednesday, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, will run for president and vice president, respectively, in the May 2022 national elections.

In a statement, Mayor Sara said that her father “personally” confirmed to her his plans with Senator Go in next year’s elections.

According to her, she was left with two letters that were endorsed by the President for her consideration — one letter explained why she should endorse the Go-Duterte tandem and the other one suggested that she “take in Senator Go as my Vice President”.

Amidst all the statements being released by personalities on the possible Go-Duterte tandem, Mayor Sara called on his father and Senator Go to “own up publicly” their decision to run in the 2022 elections as a tandem.

If they can confirm it privately, then I do not see the reason why they cannot be candid about it to the public. They should simply present to the people what they can offer to our country and how they can help our fellow Filipinos,” Mayor Sara said in a statement.

Mayor Sara then asked her father and Senator Go to stop talking about her and make her the reason for them running or not running.

Mayor Sara’s statement came a day after President Duterte, in a taped public address, said that he would run for vice president in the May 2022 national elections.

However, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday said that a part of the public address that was edited out from the tape has President Duterte saying that he and Senator Go will abort their plans if Mayor Sara would seek the presidency.

In the same statement, Mayor Sara told Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel and PDP-Laban Executive Director Ronwald Munsayac to stop blaming her for the “sad state” of the PDP-Laban.

It is not my fault that no one among you is a leader worthy of the respect of the majority. Do not blame me for the sitcom that your party has been reduced to. I am not a ‘last two minutes’ person. I think, I organize, and I implement accordingly. In the meantime, I refuse to be a political punching bag for a party in complete disarray,” Mayor Sara said in a statement.

In response, Pimentel said that he didn’t know why he was mentioned in Mayor Sara’s statement, adding that his comments on issues in the party were all addressed to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi as well as to PDP-Laban Secretary-General Attorney Melvin Matibag.
