The son of late president Ferdinand Marcos made the statement during the Laging Handa briefing.

At one point, he was asked on what circumstances will prompt him to seek the highest position in the country.

“It is the usual [circumstances]. If there is a support for you, you have a vice president, senators, governors, mayors [who will support and run alongside you], you look at that,” he said.

Bongbong Marcos has been noted as second-leading possible presidential candidate according to pre-election surveys.

“Alliances have also become very important, and so I tend to go to grassroots, talk to the leaders. Mataas ka sa survey, titignan mo, totoo ba ‘yan? Kailangan alamin mo sa local leaders,” he added.

However, he said as per report of GMA News that it is difficult to make a decision at the moment on whether he will vie for the said post due to many uncertainties.

“If you have all of that (top level and grassroots support) and there is a way to win, you can run. Until that is clear, it would be premature to make a decision,” Marcos said.

Meanwhile, Bongbong Marcos met with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte last May.

Inday Sara, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, is the current leader in pre-election polls.

However, the two did not discuss their plans for the 2022 elections during their meeting.

Marcos lost to incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo in the 2016 elections.

He protested his election defeat but the Supreme Court dismissed his appeal.
